DRUMRIGHT — Drumright Public School Board of Education approved a food service management agreement with Keystone Food Service this fiscal year. The approval also comes with a meal rate of $5.10 — an increase from last year, according to District Superintendent Angela Avila.
However, the increase to the meal rate will have no impact on student meals.
“The district will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students,” said Avila.
She explained the rate covers the district’s full food service operation rather than simply the cost of food.
“The $5.10 rate covers the full food service operation, including breakfast and lunch, food and supplies, food service employees and payroll costs, meal preparation and service, menu planning, training, nutrition and sanitation oversight, and management of the district’s child nutrition program,” she said.
The district’s total cost for food service under the renewed agreement will depend on the number of meals served during the school year. Avila also said there are no planned changes to menus, portion sizes, food quality or meal options as a result of the renewed agreement.
