TULSA — A Sand Springs motorcyclist was injured after being knocked from his motorcycle and run over during a four-vehicle collision Monday on Interstate 44, according to a report by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Middleton.
The collision occurred about 5:03 p.m. Aug. 10 on westbound I-44 near Oklahoma 51 in Tulsa County, Middleton reported.
According to the report, all four vehicles were traveling west during rush-hour traffic when three began slowing. A vehicle driven by Darius T. Jones, 27, of Tulsa was traveling at an unsafe speed and following too closely. Jones failed to slow in time and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Ricky L. Wadley, 72, of Tulsa.
The impact forced Wadley’s vehicle into a motorcycle driven by Robert G. Kemper, 37, of Sand Springs. The motorcycle was then pushed into a vehicle driven by Johnny F. Sharp, 71, of Afton, according to Middleton’s report.
Kemper was knocked from the motorcycle and run over by Wadley’s vehicle, Middleton reported.
Kemper, Wadley and a passenger in Jones’ vehicle were injured. Jones and Sharp were not injured, according to the report.
Middleton’s preliminary report did not provide the injured people’s conditions or say where they were taken for treatment. Information from the preliminary investigation is subject to change.
