SAND SPRINGS — The Charles Page Sandites laced up for a roller coaster of a week — the kind where one night you’re grinding out 3–2 thrillers, the next you’re feasting on Poteau errors, and then Saturday, Owasso drops a seven-run haymaker before fans have fi nished applying sunscreen.
Thursday vs. Collinsville – 3–2 win
Pitching ruled the night in Sand Springs, and Lady Sandite Kylie King was holding court. King recorded 15 outs the hard way — no freebies, no walks — she just kept Collinsville guessing. The Cardinals did what little damage they were allowed to do in the third when Adde Davison ripped a double to dead center, tying things up at 2.
The Sandites went to work in the home half of the fourth with the game knotted at two apiece, and the frame turned into the decisive moment of the night. Lady Sandite Addison McGuire got things started by working the count deep. Her towering pop-up died in the glove of shortstop J. McKeen for the fi rst out.
Avery Pritchard then chopped a roller back toward the circle. It could have been a routine play, but Collinsville pitcher Emma Helm fumbled it, and Pritchard, at a full run, reached safety on the error. You could almost hear the “ding” when the spark was lit.
Lexi Penner followed with a sharp line drive to left fi eld, putting two aboard as Pritchard moved up to second. Suddenly, the Sandites had the go-ahead run in the chamber, and another one in the magazine. With only one out in the books Lauren Painter came close in the box. She fouled o a couple tough pitches before Helm got her swinging for out number two. The rally teetered.
With two on and two down, Sawyer Briscoe dropped a perfect bunt that simply died on the third-base line. Collinsville third baseman K. Breeding had no play as Briscoe legged out the single. Pritchard raced home to score and Penner scooted to third. The Sandites had a 3–2 lead.
As the dust settled at home, Briscoe, feeling aggressive, tried to steal second but was cut down on a throw from Helm to center fi elder C. Ford. It ended the inning, but not before the Sandites pushed across what proved to be the gamewinning run.
Bella Wilson added an RBI single earlier, and the Sandites held tight from there. King fi nished with three hits allowed, two runs (only one earned), and fi ve strikeouts in fi ve innings of work.
Briscoe went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Wilson chipped in another. For Collinsville, Davison knocked in both runs, while Parker Knight, Emma Helm and Davison each had a hit.
Thursday at Poteau – 4–2 win
Di erent town, same Sandites. A wild pitch got Charles Page rolling in the fi rst, but it was Sawyer Briscoe again setting the table with three hits from the leado spot like it was her personal batting cage.
The game sat tied at 1 until the sixth frame, when Poteau handed the Sandites the break they needed. An error plated one run, another error brought in a second, and suddenly the Sandites had a cushion they wouldn’t give back.
Lexi Penner earned the win, going six innings and scattering eight hits but only one run. She didn’t miss a corner and didn’t walk a batter. Meanwhile, Poteau’s Braelie Isbell tried to play spoiler with a 2-for-3 day and two RBIs, while Kira Reineman added two hits. Still, the Lady Pirates’ gloves betrayed them at the worst possible time.
Saturday at Owasso – 9–0 loss
Then came Owasso, and let’s just say it wasn’t the Sandites’ kind of Saturday. The Rams exploded for seven runs in the fi rst inning - Tylen Edwards set the tone with a two-run single, and Katelynn Knight blew the game open with a bases-clearing double that had the Owasso dugout bouncing like it was the post season.
Carlee Brewer tried to settle things down for Charles Page, but Owasso kept the pressure on, adding two more in the second. The damage was done.
Hailey Troulakis twirled fi ve shutout innings for Owasso, allowing just four Sandite hits. Credit to Lexi Penner, who stood out in the eight-hole with a perfect 2-for-2 line, proving there was still some fi ght left in the order. But in the end, it was Owasso's night, start to fi nish.
What’s next The Sandites (now sitting at 2–2 for the stretch) pack their bags for Jenks to face the Lady Trojans. If history holds, expect a bounce-back — this team has shown it can grind.
