The Lady Tornadoes finished their season in the third game of Regionals. Tuesday it rained in Drumright, Oklahoma, and the games got cancelled until Thursday, and I couldn't make it back up there. So I had GameChanger.
Before I get started, I want to give my comments on our only departing senior, Alyssa Roe. She transferred from Cushing to Drumright, and I am glad she did. She was our shortstop for both seasons. She made very few errors that I saw. She threw a lot of players out going to fi rst base, a lot of times threw them out under pressure situations. Also was a very patient batter.
Last year in the playo s she played great. She also had RBIs in one game in the district playo s against Afton. She is the only senior, but she will be hard to replace.
The Ladies had a rough Regional, playing all three teams in it. Drummond was number 6, Waukomis number 11, and Garber number 21.
The Lady Tornadoes, in a loser's bracket game, beat No. 11 Waukomis 5-3. The Ladies were down 3-1 going into the top of the sixth. They scored four runs and held on to win 5-3.
They lost to No. 6 Drummond in the opening game of the tournament 5-2. That was only down 3-2 for a while. They lost to Garber their third game, 6-3.
The Ladies had the bases loaded early on with no outs and couldn't get any runs against Garber, and had two on in another inning and nobody scored, but Garber didn't strand their baserunners like that.
Kaiton Vann had to pitch every inning up there, 19 innings. She gave up 14 runs, but hardly any of them were earned. She had a 2.06 earned run average for the season.
Bray Wright played well at third base.
She hadn't played since Jr. High. She also had a lot of RBIs on the season.
Lauren Janzen beat out a lot of bunts.
She also did a good job in left fi eld.
Brinlee Christie really played well at catcher and really hit the ball well late in the season. Hit a grand slam against Yale in Districts.
Tinley Freeman also hit the ball well
late in the season, played great in right fi eld, also won several games pitching.
If she can get stronger, she might pitch more often next year so Kaiton can rest her arm more often.
Aubrea “Breezy” Brimmer played well at fi rst base and hit the ball well. I see her playing great next year.
Aubrey Allen started hitting the ball later on in the season with doubles.
Addy Ingraham may be one of the best center fi elders we've ever had. She's very talented in center.
Boston Lunsford hits the ball as hard as anyone. A lot of times she hits it at someone, but if she fi nds the gaps next year, you will see doubles and triples.
Zoe Neinhus and Kaiton Harden both did a great job running the bases.
Their record was 18-13, playing against people like Dale, Sequoyah, Cushing, Oilton, Davenport and Ripley. They beat two rated teams in Davenport and Waukomis.
The coaches are Leslie Robinson and Emily Amen.
Alyssa Roe stole a ton of bases in her career. The rest of the team stole a bunch of bases also.
