MANNFORD — The Mannford Board of Trustees voted unanimously to reaffirm traditional zoning practices during their regular board meeting held Aug. 14.
The approval of ordinance No. 2025-09 repealed section 12-304 through 12-348 of the town code essentially eliminating the use of Planned Unit Developments (PUDs) as a land use option within the town limits. The motion to adopt the ordinance was made by Trustee Johnnie Bozarth with a second from Trustee Raylene Kelley. Following the motion, the agenda item was approved with no opposition.
Not only did the ordinance prohibit PUDs it also reaffirmed base zoning as the the primary land use regulation — meaning base zoning districts will be used as the primary framework for future land use and development. The shift to more conventional zoning practices and away from PUDs — which provides flexibility for mixed-use and customized developments — reflects long standing sentiments of community members.
Following the passage of the ordinance the board also voted unanimously to approve an emergency clause allowing the ordinance to go into effect immediately. With both motions passed, the ordinance is now in full effect.
