Prue girls stack finish line for fourth place finish

SHAWNEE — Prue High School’s girls cross country team packed the top half of the field Saturday to claim fourth place in the Class 1A race at the NRC Pre-State meet.

The Lady Rockets totaled 82 points behind a deep Laverne squad that dominated with 16. Boise City finished second at 69, and Hillsdale Christian was third with 79.

Junior Leah Wilcox led Prue with a 28thplace finish in 15 minutes, 41.02 seconds, followed closely by sophomore Natalie Taylor in 15:43.04 (30th) and senior Gabby Hendrix in 15:53.48 (32nd).

Freshman Destiny Wilkins clocked 18:51.76 (57th) and sophomore Deiyanaira Rodriguez ran 18:52.70 (58th) to round out Prue’s scoring five.

Prue also got finishes from Matti Terrell (19:08.46, 62nd), Chelsea Wilkins (20:47.01, 74th), Kendal Thompson(21:00.38, 80th), Lexi Horn (23:24.56, 89th) and Kylie Bradley (23:50.12, 90th).
