Pawnee County Voters to Decide on Sales Tax Allocation in October Special Election

PAWNEE COUNTY— The Pawnee County Commissioners have officially called a Special Election for Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, giving voters the opportunity to weigh in on three key questions related to the use of local sales tax revenue.

According the a Pawnee County Election Board employee, the ballot will focus on how sales tax funds should be allocated across three major areas: County Roads, the Fair Board, and the Sheriff’s Office.

Each question will allow voters to decide whether a portion of the existing sales tax should be designated for these essential services. The outcome of the election will help determine how infrastructure, public safety, and community events are funded in the coming years.

In addition to the Special Election, the Pawnee County Election Board has announced a vacancy in State Representative District 35. The filing period for this seat is set for October 6, 7, and 8. Depending on the number of candidates who file, voters may be heading back to the polls for an additional election later this year.
