Drumright commission approves donation, replacement, and amendment

DRUMRIGHT — The Drumright City Commission addressed several key items during its regular monthly meeting recently including accepting a donation and replacing a police vehicle.

Branchcomb asphalt donated a 2007 New Holland Skid Steer Loader to the City of Drumright. A substantial donation with an estimated value of $45,000, according to City Manager Shawn Gibson.

“The equipment will primarily be used in the street department,” said Gibson.

The police department is also expected to receive an upgrade following the commissioners approving the purchase of a 2018 Ford Explorer Interceptor. The Ford will be replacing a 2016 Dodge Charger at a cost of $11,000 which was previously approved for purchasing.

“The police unit previously approved developed a mechanical problem so the business upgraded us to a better used police unit for the same purchase price,” Gibson said.

Due to the upgrade being offered at the same initial price the swap came at no additional cost to the city.

Additionally, the commission approved budget amendments for the 2024–2025 fiscal year under Resolution 25-21.

Gibson explained that the amendments were necessary to adjust revenues and expenses not anticipated in the original budget; “These specific adjustments were needed after the accountant’s adjustments for year-end financial preparation”.

Other examples would be depreciation, prepaid insurance expenses, accrued PTO, and accused sales tax revenue. Budget amendments were made during the Gas Authority and Utility Trust meetings following the commission meeting for the same reason.
