TULSA— A Sand Springs man was sentenced to more than12yearsinfederalprison for methamphetamine distribution and being a felon in possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced Monday.
U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced Clifton Darnell Brown, 47, to 151 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court records, in September 2024 Tulsa police responded to a gas station after employees reported a car parked at a pump for an extended period with an apparently unconscious occupant. When officers approached and woke Brown, he allegedly failed to comply with commands and tried to flee.
Officers said they recovered a baggie that Brown discarded and another from his clothing. A search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana and a loaded handgun. Forensic testing later confirmed the baggies contained methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.
Brown has a prior criminal record, including convictions for grand larceny, drug offenses, attempted burglary, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Tulsa Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan E. Michel.
