Candidate filing opens April 1 for 2026 Oklahoma elections

SAPULPA — Candidate filing for the 2026 election cycle will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, and continue through 5 p.m. Friday, April 3, according to the Creek County Election Board and the Oklahoma State Election Board.

Candidates for federal, state, legislative and judicial offices must file with the Secretary of the State Election Board at the State Capitol, while candidates for county offices must file with the secretary of their county election board.

Creek County Election Board Secretary Vicki Martin said offices expected to be filled this year include U.S. senator, U.S. House districts 1 and 3, governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer, superintendent of public instruction, state auditor and inspector, labor commissioner, corporation commissioner, district attorney, state Senate districts 8 and 12, state House districts 24, 29, 30, 35 and 68, county treasurer, county assessor, and county commissioner districts 1 and 3.

Martin said filing forms and information for county offices are available through the Creek County Election Board, 230 E. Hobson Ave. in Sapulpa. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

County office candidates may obtain information by calling 918224-3529 or emailing creekcounty@elections.ok.gov. Filing packets for all offices are also available on the Oklahoma State Election Board website.

Candidates are required to submit a notarized Declaration of Candidacy, along with a filing fee or petition, a voter registration verification form and any other required documents during the filing period. State law does not allow early, late or incomplete submissions.
