CASHION — The Pawnee boys golf team, currently ranked 45th in Class 2A, turned in a solid showing March 24 at the Cashion Invitational at Cimarron National Golf Course, tying the host Wildcats for seventh place as a team.
Seniors Jose Ramirez and Cash Wilson led the Black Bears with matching rounds of 91 to tie for 21st place.
Ramirez opened with a 44 on the front nine, highlighted by a birdie on hole No. 5, and followed with a 47 on the back. Wilson carded a 49 on the front and improved with a 42 on the back, stringing together multiple pars down the stretch.
Senior Cason Tatum finished 29th with a 95, posting a 49 on the front nine and a 46 on the back. His round included a steady closing stretch with consistent mid-range scores.
Junior Adam Pratt placed 43rd with a 103, shooting a 49 on the front and a 54 on the back while navigating several challenging holes.
Freshman Aceyn Jestes rounded out the team scoring with a 104, finishing 48th. He recorded a 49 on the front nine and a 55 on the back in a balanced round for the young golfer.
Competing as an individual, senior Leland Rice placed 34th with a 98. He shot a 50 on the front nine and a 48 on the back, showing consistency across both halves of the course.
The Black Bears next showcase will be at the Wellston Boys Golf Tournament hosted at the Chandler Municipal Golf Course. Tee off is at 9 a.m, three days later the Black Bears compete in the Frontier Boys Tournament at the Pawnee Golf Club.
