DRUMRIGHT — The Drumright City Commission approved a request for a lot split at 720 W. Walnut. According to City Manager Shawn Gibson this clears the way for additional housing.
“This is for Central Tech — they will be building two new houses at this location,” he said.
The lot, located in the M. Jones Addition of the original townsite of Drumright, will be divided into Lot 6 and the east half of Lot 7, and Lot 8 and the west half of Lot 7.
This split allows for the development of two individual residential lots as part of Central Tech’s ongoing hands-on building program.
The Commission also approved the placement of a 2025 Clayton Mobile Home at 118 E 4th Street. The new 16x56-foot (896 square feet) home met all requirements for location and setup. A resident at 220 East Dale was also granted permission to live in a camper for six months while a permanent home is constructed on the property.
Routine matters approved included the consent agenda with regular claims in the amount of $78,381.48, the regular meeting minutes from June, and the financial report from May as well as a contract with CBEW Professional Group, LLP for fiscal year 2025-2026 accounting services, using Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) Work Comp escrow credit to reduce premiums, and an an inter-cooperative agreement with Creek County.
Gibson clarified that the agreement with Creek County allows the city to use county equipment.
“This allows Creek County to loan us equipment and help the city with projects, it also lets the city assist the county if needed,” he said Additionally, he said there was no costs associated with the approving of the agreement and that paperwork was signed every year to allow for it.
Wrapping up the meeting, the city declared an old train car at the water treatment plant as surplus. Gibson said there was no foreseeable use for the item and that it will be offered through a public bidding process.
