SHAWNEE — The Cleveland High School girls cross country team battled deep competition Saturday to finish 12th in the Class 4A division of the NRC Pre-State Cross Country Meet at North Rock Creek High School.
Byng captured the team title with 68 points, edging Bridge Creek (82) and Kingfisher (102) in a field that featured 15 schools.
Cleveland totaled 312 points, paced by junior Kidan Logsdon, who crossed the 3,200-meter course in 13 minutes, 34.86 seconds to finish 35th overall.
Senior Kasey Metzer was next for the Lady Tigers, taking 57th in 14:12.49. Hallie Collins followed in 75th (14:39.72), while Paytyn Schaefer (95th, 15:29.61) and Adrianna Brown (97th, 15:38.12) rounded out the team’s top five.
Freshman Canaan McKinney added a 100th-place finish in 15:40.24, giving Cleveland valuable depth on a course that challenged runners with warm, humid conditions.
