At the first of the week, I thought rain would cancel every game.
Well it didn’t. It hit everywhere else. Tuesday at Drumright, the ladies played Wellston. We were down 3-1 and came back to win 4-3.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Brinlee Christie singled, Aubrey Allen doubled, and Lauren Janzen doubled to knock in Christie and Allen.
Tied at 3-3 Kaiton Vann doubled and Aubrey Brimmer singled in Vann.
Evie Ools struck out 9 Wellston batters.
Then we went to the conference tournament in Davenport. Wow had two pool-play games.
We lost to Depew 4-2 in the extra inning tie breaker, then the ladies beat Olive 100.
Vann pitched in that game. Saturday we played Oilton, who is much improved this year, in some games they play as many as six freshman.
Oilton beat us 1-0. The winning run was on an error and a sacrifice fly by Oilton freshman Demi Kennedy who scored courtesy runner Anniston Ford.
Vann and Ools had the only hits of the game for Drumright.
On Defense, Vann made a great play on third, Ools at pitcher, and McKay Reed made a very good play. Brimmer at first and Allen at second both made goos plays.
But Oilton was making their own great defensive plays.
At third was Demi Kennedy, center field was Karlie Kennedy, right field was Aubrey McEwen, Pattie Smith at pitcher struck out three, Jewell Cox at second and Angela Rosenquist at first.
Oilton won their own tournament a couple of weeks ago, they almost stunned Tournament champion Hominy.
They only lost to Hominy 1-0 as Pattie Smith pitched a great game. Smith is only a sophomore.
The Lady Panthers also won the Kelleyville Tournament.
Others playing for Oilton are Joshlyn Coz at catcher, Keely James also plays at catcher some games, Jayden Smith is left field, McKenzie Begley and Angela Rosenquist play first. Anniston Ford is courtesy runner.
You might see almost everyone laying different positions during games. Pattie Smith, Karlie Kennedy, Keely James, Jewell and Joshlyn Cox, and McKenzie Begley have had hits during the games I’ve been at.
