The Drumright Lady Tornadoes traveled to Firelake in Shawnee to scrimmage 5A Collinsville and 6A Stillwater.
You have to give it to coach Rob. She likes to scrimmage tough teams. ”1 believe it is going to make us better,” she said.
The first game was with Collinsville and we lost 8-5. It was 8-1 Collinsville and the Lady Tornadoes scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Aubrey Allen singled, Addy Ingraham was hit by a pitch. Alyssa Roe singled in Allen, Lauren Janzen walked, scoring Ingraham. Kaiton Vann’s sacrifice fly scored Roe. Boston Lunsford singled in Janzen. Roe was 3-3 with 2 RBIs; Lunsford 2-3 with 1 RBI; Aubrey Allen 2-2; Lauren had an RBI and so did Vann.
Vann pitched and struck out 2. Defensive help came from from Braelyn Wright at third, hitting the ground then coming up and firing it to first. Ingraham made several plays in the center. Roe made several plays at shortstop. Brinley Christy threw out a runner going to second. Jensen caught plays — one in left. Lunsford made a great play at second. Tinley Freeman caught one in center.
First baseman Allen, made a couple of good plays.
The next game, I thought we were going to play a good Bartlesville team, but it turns out to be a better Stillwater team, who went 27-10 last season and has 2 move-ins.
Tinley Freeman pitched well for three innings, but the loaded Stillwater team finally started getting on a roll with the bat. The ladies lost 9-0.
Tinley had help from third baseman Kaiton Vann, Alyssa Roe, Boston Lunsford, Brinley Christy and Aubrey Brimmer at first.
We did not have any hits, but the Stillwater pitchers had been taught a nasty changeup that curves in at the last second.
On Friday, the Lady Tornadoes scrimmaged a good Kellyville team. It ended up in a 3-3 tie. Kaiton Vann hit a two-run homer early. Berinley Christy had a sacrifice fly. In the fourth inning Tinley Freeman singled and, with two outs, Aubrey Brimmer got robbed great hit when the Kelleyville shortstop jumped high enough to make the play.
The scrimmage ended up in a 3-3 tie.
Vann was 2-2 with 2 RBIs; Christy had an RBI; Roe was 2-3; Lunsford, 2-2; Aubrey Allen and Taney Freeman both had hits. Vann started the game for three innings, striking out three batters and giving up zero earned runs and only one hit. Ffreeman pitched the last two innings, struck out two. Addy Ingraham made a great throw from center to third, but didn’t the call.
Other defensive plays were from Lunsford, Wright in right field, Vann at shortstop.
In the junior varsity game, Kelleyville won 7-0. They didn’t have that many subs, but we did. Aubrey Brimmer pitched and struck out two. Lauren Janzen pitched the third inning and made two catches. Kaiton Vann made a play at shortstop.
We had two hits: One from Zoe Neinhaus and one from Lunsford.
Those playing hard were Willow Mattox, Kalli Jo Deshazer, Kailin Roden, Bailey Parrott. Doing a good job at assisting Alyssa Fuxua. By the time you read this, the Lady Tornadoes would have played two at McCloud. It was supposed too be Pawhuska at home, but it was changed. Thursday will be the Ripley Festival, Aug. 13-15.
