Lady Tornadoes get huge win 1-0 over Kelleyville

The Lady Tornadoes coached by Lesli Robinson, placed at Shidler Tuesday.

The fi rst game they beat Shidler 8-1. The second game they beat Covington-Douglas 4-0. Covington gave ranked Frontier a run for their money before Frontier beat them 6-5.

Evie Ools pitched fi rst game and Kaiton Vann pitched the second game. Then the Lady Tornadoes upset 3A Kelleyville 1-0.

Evie Ools struck out 6, but her help on the defense was incredible.

Vann, McKay Reed, Brinley Christie, Aubrey Allen, Aubrey Brimmer, Lauren Janzen, Allyssa Roe, and Ools made defensive plays.

The ladies got their lone run in the bottom of the second when Christie singled, Allen singled, and Reed doubled in Christie. Bad base running messed us up scoring more runs, but that’s all I have to gripe about, bad base running.

The ladies got out of a jam in the top of the sixth. Kelleyville had runners at second and third but Ools struck out a batter to get out of it. Also Christie and Allen helped get the fi rst two outs.

Ools struck out the last two Kelleyville batters in the top of the seventh to put the Lady Ponies out of their misery. The other out was made by Roe.

Hitting were Reed 2 for 3 with 1 RBI, Ools and Janzen 2 for 3, and Vann and Roe 1 for 3. Boston Lunsford hit well in other games.

After playing Liberty at Liberty Monday, Ripley will be here Tuesday and Yale will be here this Thursday.

Next Tuesday, the Ladies will play Strother at home. Next Thursday we play at home against Shidler.

The ladies are 10-8-1. They are getting better.

Our assistant coach is Allyssa Fuxa, who I left out last week. I did not do it on purpose. It was some of that brain fog from COVID. Don’t worry, I don’t have it anymore.
