Lady Tornadoes Shock No. 5 Hominy Thursday

Ladies Miss State by One Game

The Lady Tornadoes Softball team pulled o a ranked Hominy. Their fi rst game Thursday, they pulled o an Seiling But the best was yet to happen. The Lady Tornadoes did a good job of holding Hominy down, held them to 2 runs in the fi rst 6 innings, but gave up 3 runs in the top of the trail But then the Ladies pulled o a shocking bottom of the seventh with 5 runs, and it was so loud, that I had to hold my ears, and it was still loud.

It was a two out rally with Brinlee Christie singled, Aubrey Allen singled, McKay Reed singles in Christie, Alyssa Roe singled in Allen, but when the Lady Bucks were in disbelief, Reed put on her wheels, and stole home, then Lauren Janzen bunted her way on scoring Roe, then senior Evie Ools hit a ball that the right fi elder couldn't get to, and it at The two teams couldn't top of the ninth, Hominy scored a run on a triple, and sacrifi ce fl y, they also had a single in the inning. But the lead wasn't safe, Reed singled Roe walked, and with 1 out, Ools doubled in the winning 2 runs to give the Ladies probably as exciting of a game that I've seen. Evie Ools was 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs, Janzen 2 for 5 with 1 RBI, Boston Lunsford 2 for 4, Reed 3 for 4 with 1 RBI, Brinlee Christie 1 for 4, with Defensively Roe, and Kaiton Vann tagged out sleeping Hominy Others making good plays were Addie Ingraham making running catches, Brinlee Christie handling bunts at catcher, Janzen, Reed, Allen, Ools. Ools struck out three batters.

I'm telling you, the umpires were very tough on Evie's pitches in all three walk any batters in Districts, but against Hominy in three games she supposedly walked 11 batters. Plus she had a hamstring Earlier in the week I talked to Coach Lesli Robinson about the Lady Tornadoes, she said "We've got a comeback kid a lot of tough teams early to see how this team would react." "They played hard, practiced hard. We are aggressive on the bases, I feel confi dent if we play ball, we can do well and was She fi nished with, "Evie Ools has been a steady pitcher, and grinds it out, been The next day, we had to just win one game, and Hominy had to win three, and they did. During the Ladies win over Hominy, she (Robinson) took up for her team, and got kicked out, so she had to miss on Hominy's pitcher, Keegan Walker who probably hasn't given up more than three or four runs in a game this season, but she gave up seven Thursday night, but then it became Friday, more like the the Walker only gave up one run in the two games, although she struck out 12 on Thursday, we just couldn't hit her very good on Friday, as we only had 8 hits in the two games. We lost 5-1. Aubrey Brimmer doubled shutout in the second game, she was 7 for 15 for the tournament, is one of the best all around that we have ever had.

We pounded a lot of hits against Seiling and couldn't the They could hit the ball. Brimmer was 3 for 5, Roe was 3 for 4, Janzen was 3 for 5, Reed was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Lunsford was 2 for 5 with 1 RBI, Allen was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, Vann was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI.

The Lady Tornadoes lost their fi rst four games of the season, we won a bunch after that, 21-11-1 record.

The Hominy announcers on the Buck Pride Network complimented our ladies saying: "They do not quit," and "There's Penny Gooch getting the Tornado fans fi red up." There was a lot of controversy about where you could sit and that didn't go well.

Hominy only lost three games this season, and only one of them at home and that was to us.

Alyssa Fuxa and Chris Elerick did a good job coaching when Robinson couldn't.
