SHAWNEE —Olive’s boys cross country team packed five runners into the top 100 to secure a ninth-place finish Saturday at the NRC Pre-State Cross Country Meet at North Rock Creek High School.
Sophomore Kellson Peveler paced the Wildcats with a 64th-place time of 24 minutes, 15.08 seconds on the 5,000-meter course. Twin brother Kellen Peveler followed close behind in 66th at 24:45.02, and senior Tim Prill added a 68th-place effort in 25:06.05.
Sophomore Gavin Nickell clocked 27:45.97 for 88th, while junior Cody Cohen rounded out the Olive scorers at 98th in 33:14.13.
The Wildcats finished with 223 points in the Class 1A boys team standings.
Laverne dominated the race with 22 points, placing three runners in the top three.
Oklahoma Bible was second at 72 and Calvin third with 106.
The meet drew schools from across Oklahoma and served as a tune-up for the upcoming regional championships.
