Olive plays for district title Oct. 30

The Olive Wildcats, coached by Shane McKenzie and assisted by Chance and Chris Batey, are playing for the district title Thursday night at Sasakwa.

Last Thursday, Olive played at home against Bowlegs. Olive won 41-14.

Olive's kicker, River Stonecipher, kicked the ball to the end zone three different times, and a kicker that good is a weapon.

Freshman Brady Maxville had 74 yards on 18 carries. Quarterback Gavin Nickell had 55 yards on 14 carries.

The Bowlegs coach does not believe in punting, as he didn't punt, even deep in his own territory, and kept giving Olive a short distance to travel.

Nickell and Maxville both scored two touchdowns. Don't get mad, Peveler twins, Kelson and Kellen. One of them scored on an 18-yard pass from Nickell, and one of them scored on a 22-yard double reverse. One of them might have scored both times. Hopefully, both of them scored, one each.

Stonecipher kicked five extra points. A punishing Olive defense held the Bowlegs offense to 174 total yards.

Bryer Maxville, who hadn't played since his freshman year and has been a very good basketball and baseball player, decided to play his senior year with his freshman brother, Brady.

He plays an aggressive football game. He had quite a few hard hits on the night. Also hitting hard were Tim Pierce, Nickell, Jason Sparks, Stonecipher, Alex Williams, freshman Hagen Dobson, Timothy Cotton, Raymond Brown, Brady Maxville, Kelson and Kellen Peveler, Aiden Ochoa, Cody Cohen and Manuel Bertranes.

Chloe Attenberry also got in the game.

Other team members are Preston Sanderson, Robert Nance, Nick Conley and William Gentry.

Olive should be able to host a playoff game, win or lose at Sasakwa.

Sasakwa is a very athletic team that has won most of its games.

Olive's game is at 7:00 at Sasakwa Thursday.

About eight years ago, I believe Olive started playing football, and now they are in the playoffs.

Good luck, guys. Class C playoffs.
