Win some lose some in Agra Tournament
Lady Tornadoes
The Drumright Tornadoes opened their basketball season at home. Both Junior Varsity teams won, girls 1918, boys 38-36.
Girls lost to Davenport 4122. They got off to a real bad start, not scoring in the first quarter, being behind 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter they found their defense and held Davenport to 2 points in the second quarter but were still behind 16-7 at the half.
The Lady Tornadoes did play well on defense. Mckay Reed frustrated offensive Davenport players for davenport with her quickness as did Lauren Janzen, Alyssa Roe, Aubree Brimmer, Braelyn Wright, Torin Bray, Addie Ingraham, and Evie Ools.
Kation Vann is out with an injury. As she had two games with over 20 points last year, she could have helped in the scoring column. I don’t know her status yet.
It was 23-13 in the third when Davenport was able to start scoring again. We struggled scoring the whole game, tried to hold onto the ball way too long, a lot of times we lost the ball before we could get a shot off.
There were a few bright moments.
Roe had 6 points, hitting 6 out of 7 from the free throw line. Reed had 5, Janzen had 5 hitting a three, Brimmer had 2. Others playing were Wright, Bray, Ools who has 2, Boston Lunsford, Zoey Neinhuis, Ingraham, Willow Mattox, Caitlin Roden, and Kayleedo DeShazer.
Next they went to the Agra tournament and beat woodland 37-30 in the first round, next up they played a very tough number 1 seed Wellston and lost 24-48.
They played for third place Saturday against an improved Meeker team. The score was 22-1 Meeker in the second quarter and we were still passing the ball for long periods of time.
We lost 45-26.
The Meeker girls were a lot taller and seemed to know what they were doing. We were way smaller than them.
Scoring were Ools who is playing a lot better lately with 13 points, making 6-7 free throws. Wright had 5 points, her physical presence along with Brimmer helps. Roe had four points and Rosen hit a free throw. Also playing were Reed, Bray and Willow Mattox, who is starting to come out of her shell, made a good defensive play. Janzen hit a three.
Ools had a bunch of rebounds against Meeker.
By the time you read this, Drumright will have played Olive. On Friday, December 12, the Tornadoes play Dove Science.

The varsity boys opener did not go well at all. They seemed to be psyched out by the taller Davenport team. There was a lot of mouthing off by both teams but Davenport seemed to thrive on it.
The never was close.
They were in our heads all night and we lost 65-38. A late game point run by Drumright made it look better than it was.
Zaidon “Blue” Stewart had 8 points early, hitting 2 threes and finished with 12 points. Garrett wright had 8 points, Rhett Cearley had 4 points inside, Freshman Keegan Ward had 8 points Lincoln fisher, Keeton Jensen, and Abel Robbins finished with 2 points each.
I’m sorry I didn’t get to go most of the next three varsity boys games. The boys lost to Woodland by 1 point, but devastated the Wellston junior varsity 74-30 and beat Agra 54-43 as Jensen, Wright, Stewart, Cearley, and Kypton Ward must have improved from the Davenport game.
The Tornadoes were ahead 54-26 when I got there. They emptied the bench. Sammy Blackburn got to play in the Davenport game. I think he will help us a lot with his hustle and defense.
In the Davenport JV boys game, Keegan Ward, Abel Robbins, Gunnar Wright, and Kyton Carter (who had 4 points), Lincoln Fisher, Blackburn, and Austin Tull all did well. Other team members are Alex Dana, Keith DeShazer, Bryce Faires, Elan Hilbert, Jayce Jackson, Tyler Rinehart, and Chance West. Robbins hit 2 threes to help the JV beat Davenport.
Coaches are Jason Bray, Mike Ledgerwood, Terry Mattox, and Nate Hubbell.
