This week districts are in Big O for the Lady Tornadoes. They host Yale and Afton. Not sure what times the games will start, so call the school for information.
Last week the Lady Tornadoes played three games. They beat Beggs 11-3. The weather was crappy again, but this week it is supposed to be nicer.
At first it looked like Beggs was going to have a chance, but in the bottom of the third, Lady Tornadoes trailing 1-0, the ladies got five runs. Tinley Freeman singled, Alyssa Roe walked, Kaiton Vann was intentionally walked (can you say chicken), Brae Wright walked scoring Freeman, Boston Lunsford walked scoring Roe, Brinlee Christy hit one to the fence scoring Zoe Neinhaus (running for Vann) and Wright, and a wild pitch scored Lunsford.
Going into the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Tornadoes were only up 5-2, but the ladies scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Vann walked, Wright doubled in Zoe, running for Vann, Lunsford walked, Christy walked, Freeman walked scoring Wright, and a wild pitch scored Lunsford.
The Lady Tornadoes scored three more runs on walks, and the game ended 11-3 in the bottom of the sixth on a run-rule.
Lauren Janzen had one hit, Vann one hit, Wright two hits, Roe and Lunsford walked three times each, Christy had one hit, Freeman one hit. Kailan Raden has done well running the bases along with Zoe.
The next day the Lady Tornadoes traveled to Davenport and lost 8-4. Bret Lunsford said, “The ladies were playing flat. Davenport is playing its best ball of the year, as they beat Oilton the day before 8-0, but Oilton came back and beat Hominy their next game 9-0.”
Oilton also had to play Dale at Fire Lake and lost 11-1, but they found out that Dale hardly ever loses no matter who they play. Dale is 24-3.
I have to apologize to the Oilton Lady Panthers. I haven’t meant to mess up on your names in the paper. Sometimes I get in a hurry (explain later). I write names like other letters. The Lady Panthers are 21-6 and rated eighth in Class B. It might end up in a tie with Oilton and Davenport for the conference title.
On Thursday the Lady Tornadoes beat Yale 21-0. The Yale field has no shade so I didn’t go. Yale walked thirteen batters. They didn’t pitch their main pitcher. Tinley Freeman was the Lady Tornado pitcher of record.
Lady Tornado coaches are Lexi Robinson and Emily Green. The Football Tornadoes are hosting Porter Friday night. Porter beat Chouteau Friday night 28-14, so this will be a tougher game than I thought.
Before I forget, Tinley Freeman in the Yale game was 2 for 2, Aubrey Brimmer 1 for 1, Kailan Raden 1 for 1, Brae Wright 2 for 4. Vann had five strikeouts in the Beggs game.
