The Drumright Tornadoes coached by Mark Ryan, Miles Williams, Hunter Kirby, Kevin Gooch, and James Osterhout traveled to Barnsdall, who is undefeated and scores a lot of points.
We lost 48-19. But it was 21-19 in the middle of the second quarter. A brawl happened when Kypton was blocked on extra point, and a Barnsdall player attacked him from behind. It turned out the player was Barnsdall’s quarterback. He was replaced by Tripp Barber, who scored on his first play on a 56 yard run. Not too long after that he scored on another long touchdown run.
Barnsdall scored 27 straight points the rest of the game, momentum swung just like that. Things were going great at first, when Garrett Wright threw 3 touchdowns, one to Conrad Reed from 15 yards out, one to Zaiden (Blue) Stewart from 20 yards out, it was a great catch, and to (Speedy) Sammy Blackburn from 45 yards out. Jay Paul Welch kicked the extra point on the last touchdown.
The defense of Mikey Allen, BB Barber, Jeff Grant Welch, Dalton Collins, Kypton Ward, Conrad Reed, Anthony Fisher, William Stump, Garrett Wright, and Sammy Blackburn were playing well, but the Barnsdall’s momentum messed everything up for us.
The Barnsdall backup quarterback frustrated the Tornadoes, and maybe the Tornadoes got tired. In the fourth quarter, the Tornadoes got down to the Barnsdall 7, and didn’t get it in. The score should have been a lot closer, maybe it would have if the starting quarterback would have stayed in, now he has to miss Barnsdall’s next two games.
Barnsdall was flying down the field for a touchdown when Garrett Wright out of nowhere ran the Barnsdall player down at the 2 yard line. Sammy Blackburn had some good kickoff returns, and good catches. Blue Stewart caught 2 passes, David Hicks caught a pass, but was injured on the play, it was sad to see it happen. Cam Hollabaugh caught a pass. Austin Tull played hard on both offense and defense. The Tornadoes have a bye week, so maybe they can figure things out, and will play Porter in two weeks.
“Garrett Wright, and Sammy Blackburn played well, but we have to get people in the right spots. Conrad Reed caught a TD pass, defensively we have to keep our eyes on our keys. We have bye week, it will get some of our injured players back. We need our execution, we should get Keegan Ward and Hunter Wright back by the Porter game in 2 weeks. Blue Stewart caught a TD pass. I guess we got tired,” said Coach Ryan
