Monday the Lady Tornadoes traveled to Liberty Mounds and gave them a Roy D. Mercer beating 23-0.
Kaiton Vann pitched and everybody got in on the act — there was a lot of walks by Liberty and a lot of hits. The next night the ladies played number 13 in Class A, Ripley.
The Lady Tornadoes wanted this one real bad but stranded a bunch of base runners. I mean a bunch. We lost 2-0. The ladies did make a lot of defensive plays though. But in the top of the sixth Ripley hit a two run home run to make it to 2-0 Ripley. Jocelyn Collier who came in to pitch in relief in the first got out of a lot of jams. She walked a few batters but struck out.
Lady Tornado Evie Ools did a great job pitching she struck out 4 but only gave up 4 hits. Third baseman Kaiton Vann, left fielder Lauren Janzen, first baseman Aubrey Brimmer, second baseman Aubrey Allen, pitcher Ools, right fielder McKay Reed, center fielder Addie Ingraham, and catcher Brinlee Christie backed up Ools nicely. Hitting for the Lady Tornadoes were McKay Reed two for three, Boston Lunsford two for three, and Kaiton Vann one for four.
The ladies had the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth but couldn’t get any runs.
Several players for Ripley had parents that went to school at Drumright. Collier’s mom and dad went to school at Drumright, Clint and Crystal Long, Aubrey Donaldson (who was 2 for 3) her mom Missy Worthy went to school at Drumright.
Not sure if Ripley expected to have that close of a game but they got it.
Others who went to school at Drumright was Jackie Cargill, Sheila Blay, Christy Saliba were there all good friends of Missy and myself and we took a picture together. Saylor Collier, Jocelyn’s sister is a Ripley assistant coach and Jocelyn, Saylor and I took a picture. Elaine the two girls grandma took the picture. Their great grandma was there too.
Thursday the Lady Tornadoes hosted the Lady Bulldogs from Yale and the ladies eventually beat Yale 11-2 in six inning run rule but it was only 5-2 Drumright going into the top of the sixth. Aubrey Brimmer pulled off her second inside the park home run — this one a grand slam and the play was very close but it counted.
Hitting for the Lady Tornadoes were Brinlee Christie four for four 1 rbi, Brimmer two for four with five RBIs, Vann two for three with one RBI, as did Ools, Alyssa Roe two for three, Lavon Jenzen one for three with one RBI, Boston Lunsford one for four with one RBI.
“The ball hit her on the shin — she was down but toughed it out and stayed in the game.”
McKay Reid was one for three.
Defensive plays were made by Brinlee Christie, Aubrey Allen, McKay Reed, Evie Ools, Addie Ingraham — who made a great who catch in center, Alyssa Rowe, Aubrey Brimmer who pitched the first three innings and struck out four.
For Yale Cami Crowe was two for three with two RBIs, Kinley Britton one for three, Zeva Ross one for three. Third baseman Gracie Ecker made quite a few plays as did Cami Crowe, second baseman Lilly Collins, first baseman Kinley Thurman, centerfielder Zoey Mueggenborg, Kennedy Shepard. Other players for Drumright that didn’t get to play much are Zoe Nienhaus (who does run for Evie Ools, Macy Meyers, Kaitlin Rhoden, and Willow Matlox. Also playing for Yale is Kinsey Pittser. Coaches for Lady Tornadoes are Leslie Robinson and Alyssa Fuxa. Coach for Yale is Nate Folger. The Lady Tornadoes will travel to OBA for districts — the other team is Glencoe.
