Lovecamp lights it up as Lady Pirates ride a hot streak

CLEVELAND — When Lexi Lovecamp steps onto the course right now, it’s less about if she’ll make noise — and more about how loud it’s going to be.

The Mannford Lady Pirates are riding a wave of momentum thanks to their standout junior, and it showed in back-to-back tournaments this past week.

At the Caney Valley Girls Tournament at Keystone Country Club, the Lady Pirates placed sixth as a team with a 446, but the headline belonged to Lovecamp, who claimed the individual title with an impressive 87.

Lovecamp was dialed in from the start, stacking pars on holes 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 18 in a round that felt steady, confident and in control. Simply put — she owned the course.

Behind her, Trinity Tuell added a solid 113 to place 23rd, highlighted by a par on hole 15. MacKenna Moss (122) and Aubry Stidham (124) came in back-to-back in 39th and 40th, while Lylli Gilmore rounded out the team scoring with a 128.

Then came the encore. At the Frontier Girls Tournament on April 6 at Pawnee Golf Club, the Lady Pirates competed as individuals — but Lovecamp made sure Mannford was still front and center.

She fired an 88 to take second place, proving her tournament win was no fluke. With pars on holes 7, 9, 11 and 13, Lovecamp once again showed the kind of consistency coaches dream about and opponents dread.

Gilmore followed with a 117 to place 27th, while Moss carded a 119 for 31st as both continued to contribute solid rounds.

Two tournaments. A firstplace finish. A runner-up. And a whole lot of confidence.

Right now, the Lady Pirates — led by a red-hot Lovecamp — aren’t just playing golf.

They’re making a statement.
