PAWHUSKA — Cleveland turned in a strong all-around performance at the Pawhuska Invitational on April 2, highlighted by multiple event titles, runner-up finishes and depth across nearly every discipline.
The Tigers’ boys 3,200-meter relay team set the tone early with a second-place finish in 9:09.29, while the 400-meter relay squad added a third-place finish in 46.45. Cleveland also competed in the 800 relay, placing ninth.
Individually, Leland Kimbrough claimed gold in the discus with a winning throw of 127 feet, 11 inches. Eli Randell placed sixth (102-4), Oakden Ellis was 11th (96-6) and Jordan Goodman took 16th (98-3).
In the shot put, Michael Harjo (7th, 35-10.75) and Oakden Ellis (8th, 35-9.75) led the way, followed by Jordan Goodman (20th, 320.25) and Easton Eaves (23rd, 313.50).
Carson Taylor delivered one of Cleveland’s top finishes on the track, placing second in the 400-meter dash in 53.79. Chris Crim (13th), Nicolas Newton (19th), Curtis Roberts (20th), Logan Merriman (25th) and Mason Chenowith (32nd) added depth in the event.
Stevie Gabriel was a standout on the girls side, winning the 400-meter dash in 1:02.76, placing second in the 200 (26.84) and third in the 100 (13.00). Shelby Taylor placed ninth in the 100 (13.83) and fifth in the 200 (28.79).
Distance standout Kidan Logsdon dominated multiple events, winning the 800 (2:33.79) while adding runner-up finishes in both the 1,600 (5:52.31) and 3,200 (13:10.86). Kylee Logsdon placed ninth in the 800 and fifth in the 3,200, while Canaan McKinney added a sixth-place finish in the 3,200.
In the boys 800, Dawson Kelcey (3rd), Noah Barnett (4th) and Owen Hoppes (5th) all placed in the top five. Hoppes also cleared 5-10 to place fifth in the high jump.
Kanin Kesner placed second in the 1,600 (5:29.81) and third in the 3,200, while Oliver Sorenson (5th in 1,600, 9th in 3,200) and Ben McDonald (6th in 1,600, 10th in 3,200) contributed strong distance finishes.
Jayden Wynn placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (44.33), while Ben Rupert added an eighthplace finish in the 110 hurdles and 11th in the 300 hurdles.
In the sprints, Chris Crim, Caden Hutchinson, Kendall Begaye, Curtis Roberts and Skilar Arnold competed in the 100-meter dash, while Begaye (14th) and Hutchinson (23rd) also ran in the 200.
Field event contributors included Mason Chenowith (long jump), Jada Whited (18th long jump, 13th 300 hurdles, 23rd 100 hurdles), Deslynn Tilton (8th discus, 20th shot put), Tinlea Smith (9th discus, 8th shot put) and Sammi Ropp (discus).
