Drumright was behind 5-3 in the seventh inning with 2 outs, and with one runner. It looked like it was all over, but an error happened. A play that Oilton player probably made most of the time, but it started a big Tornado rally and the Tornadoes pulled it out 8-5 with 5 runs in the top of the seventh.
Down 5-3, Jagger Willing tripled in three Tornado base runners, Brady Osborne, Sammy Blackburn, and Garrett Wright who was intentionally walked. Lincoln Fisher singled in Willing, Conrad Reed singled in Fisher, and Carson Mattox walked.
Drumright took an 8-5 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.
But it wasn’t over yet. Izzy Casey singled with 2 outs, Jackson Prather walked, but a ground out ended the game.
Oilton’s pitcher Colby Browning had pitched a great game with 13 strikeouts with no walks.
Blackburn in relief struck out two Oilton batters without a walk but a bizarre thing happened, the Tornadoes walked 7 batters and hit three batters. Oilton only walked one batter and hit no batters, a truly weird stat.
Lincoln Fisher struck out 7 Oilton batters in the first inning. Brady Osborne struck out one panther batter.
Hitting for the Tornadoes were Blackburn 3 for 4, Osborne 2 for 3, Willing 1 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Garrett Wright 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, Fisher 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, Reed 1 for 4 with 1 RBI.
On defense, Cody Gregory, Mattox, Fisher, Howdy Wright, Osborne, Red, Blackburn, and Garrett Wright.
Hitting for Oilton were Jackson Prather 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and Izzy Casey 1 for 3. Oilton made it on base 10 times with the walks and hit batsmen.
On defense Jackson Prather at second, Rylan McCool did well at catcher, Synch Ford at third, Hunter Begley at first, and Colby Browning as pitcher. Begley had an RBI during the game. Izzy Casey did well on defense, along with Wesley Reeves.
Others that played for Oilton were Timothy Guest and Chase Brown. Later the Tornadoes played in the Mulhall-Orlando Tournament and finished third. They beat Frontier 8-2 with Garrett Wright doing well pitching. The semi-finals didn’t go well as we played No. 5 Tonkawa in Class 2A-2.
Pretty soon the OSSAA will have 20 different classes. It’s about like Halloween 20 or Friday the Thirteenth 20. 2 Class 2 Furious. There’s actually only 9 or 10 classes.
Tonkawa beat us 8-2. They looked like college players. The first pitcher had to have been 6’6” and about 230. He struck out 4 Drumright batters but walked 4 and hit two batters. The second pitcher who looked about 6’4” had to get out of the mess the first pitcher was in. The first pitcher walked Jagger Willing, hit Lincoln Fisher and Conrad Reed. There were no outs. The second pitcher gave up a hit to Carson Mattox, scoring Willing, and a throwing error scored Lincoln Fisher. But the second pitcher was a lot better and got out of the jam. Actually we thought the two big pitchers were related but they weren’t.
Carson Mattox had the only Tornado hit with 2 RBIs. Sammy Blackburn walked all 3 times. Austin Tull walked, Jagger Willing walked Fisher and Reed were both hit by a pitch.
Jagger Willing pitched the first several innings and struck out two batters. Austin Tull came in and pitched, struck out two batters.
Good defense played were made by Blackburn, and Fisher. Mattox doubled up a runner on third, also Willing, Osborne, and Reed made plays. I believe Tonkawa was beating Mulhall 9-2 in the third in the finals. Tornado coaches are Hunter Kirby, BJ Osborne, and Terry Mattox. The Tornadoes will be in the conference (guess where) in Davenport. The Tornadoes played Garber, the score was 5-5 when Reed walked with the bases loaded to score Fisher, others on base were Mattox and Cody Gregory for a 6-5 win so the Tornadoes finished third in the Mulhall tournament.
