MUSKOGEE — The Charles Page Sandites opened their week on the links Monday at the Muskogee Rougher Golf Invitational at Muskogee Country Club, with both the A and B teams navigating a competitive field and a challenging 18-hole layout.
The Sandites’ A team finished eighth overall, highlighted by a pair of strong rounds that placed two Sandites among the top 25 finishers.
Freshman Manson Kinser turned in one of the day’s most consistent rounds, finishing tied for 24th with an 81. Kinser opened the day with a steady front nine that included pars on holes 1, 4, 7 and 8 before closing with a balanced back nine that featured another stretch of pars and a birdie-like pace through the middle of the round.
Senior Leo Aary matched Kinser’s total with an 81 to also tie for 24th. Aary’s round featured an impressive early start, including back-to-back pars to open the day before settling into a rhythm that carried him through the back nine. His closing stretch included pars on four of the final five holes to cap the round.
Senior Brighton Davidson finished 39th overall with an 87. Davidson battled through a challenging front nine but recovered well on the back side, highlighted by pars on holes 11 and 12 before grinding through the closing stretch.
Sophomore Wyatt Hubanks placed 61st with a 95, posting several steady holes early before navigating a tough stretch on the back nine. Junior Van Rice rounded out the A team scoring with a 96, highlighted by a solid start and a birdie-like effort on hole 12 on the back nine.
The Sandites’ B team finished 15th overall and also had several bright moments throughout the round.
Senior Conner Roulet led the B squad with a 93 to place 54th. Roulet delivered one of the more consistent rounds of the day for the Sandites, carding pars on holes 1, 8 and 17 while maintaining steady scoring throughout the course.
Sophomore Brady Bradford finished 74th with a 105, while senior Justin Apple followed closely in 76th with a 106. Apple’s round included a highlight on hole 17 where he carded a birdie with a two on the par-3.
Sophomore Evan Sartin placed 81st with a 112, battling through the day while gaining valuable varsity experience against a deep field of competitors.
With the early-season tournament now behind them, the Sandites continue to build momentum as the spring golf schedule begins to take shape.
The Muskogee Rougher Invitational provided the kind of early test coaches often look for — a chance to measure progress, settle nerves and give younger golfers experience under tournament pressure. For a Sandites roster featuring a mix of veterans and underclassmen, Monday’s round offered a glimpse of the depth the program hopes to lean on throughout the season.
